I don't know about legal now or not but they used to be very commonly used in noosa for the prawns.

Just got this off fisheries rules and regs website:

Scoop or dip netsA scoop or dip net must not exceed 2 m in any dimension, with a handle not longer than 2.5 m and a mesh size of at least 25 mm. A gaff or landing net may be used to secure line-caught fish.

Depends on the size of mesh........

Thanks mate they are a great for prawns thats what I want one for if legal, we used to use them for small shrimps in the UK maybe I need to call up fisheries.25mm mesh will make them useless

Thanks Tunaticer, my concern is a Pushnet is not mentionded, a Pushnet isn't a dip or landing net or any other type of net mentioned in the link. The last thing I want to do is pick up a fine

I think you will find your pushnet will be deemed the same as a dip or landing net.

Sandstorm, I'd suggest you send the photo to fisheries asking for confirmation.
