Brother in law brought boat back after using it for the week and handed me a spark plug and said "think you might need a new one of these"... Won't tell me what happened and he won't be borrowing it ever again, any idea what caused this and how to go about fixing it? http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/24/a109219d9726b22649951949bc27f281.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/24/400a4e3e2e20fcfe49b20eb70da23efa.jpg

It looks like piston.

I was going to say the same as Fed
It looks like melted alloy on the plug from an overheated and melted piston.
You may have some serious issues ahead of you.

Great minds think alike Aussie.

Trace it back to the carby that feeds it, if it is the same one that was replaced then remove the carby & shove it up the arse of the guy who replaced it for you.

Time to start looking for a new motor mate.

So I'm guessing the BIL won't be getting a Xmas card this year...

No Xmas card just a new Yammie to play with.

Can't blame the BIL if the carby leaned out

Ha he's lucky he's just missing out on the Xmas card. Had a chat over the phone he apologized and said he thought it was a 4 stroke and didn't add any oil into the mix done a good job on it. Been picking metal out for a couple hours said he will chuck in a couple bucks on a new motor I wanted to get a new motor anyway just not so soon lol.

Not too sure it's an oil issue, the other cylinder is OK (well it looks like it) a lack of oil will destroy all pistons not just one, a 120 would oil injected!

Have you priced a piston and ring set? They used to be very reasonably priced. Those old beasts are pretty easy to rebuild.
