Hi all
I want to fit a Furuno 587 on my 6.1 Ocean Sport Quintrex. I really want to fit the TM260 Transducer. Any experiences with fitting and performance on particularly a Quintrex or similar Ali Boat would be appreciated.

Usually fishing anywhere from 10 to 100 metres but would like to concentrate up to 200 m. Currently have 50/200mhz transducer that came standard with LCX. Has been pretty good up to those those depths at slow speed. I will be fish mainly at 70 to 100 m range and sometimes 100 to 150m .

The 1kw option is ideal for 200m depth.
The transom mount TM260 is a bitch of a transducer to set up due to its size, the spray it kicks up and consequently the interference it creates. Ok at slow speeds but a lot of people report they can't use them with any speed.
I prefer the SS164 1kw thru hull.

cheers

I have a 600W ducer set up for cruising & switch to the 260 when I am searching for fish. Mine is on a slide & is fine up 10 knots.

As per the below link people are achieving up to 50mph with this transducer - perhaps it depends on the head unit (and obviously transducer setup). For example I remember one member in this forum had trouble holding bottom with a Furuno FVC620 and a P66 on a Quintrex and then upgraded to the FCV627 and all his problems went away.

We've just fitted a tm260 with a hds7 to our 6m platey. Holding solid bottom easy at 25kts outside. Slowed the ping speed down and had the bottom reading in 503m didn't go out any further but am sure it would have held there too. This split screen is 50khz on the left and 200khz on the right. This pic was taken last week.
