hi all just after some wisdom from the crew.
have had my boat since new now for just over 7 months now i got the 20hrs service but i have already done 113hrs on the motor and the red light is flashing reminding me to service it.

on the instructions it say's 100hrs or 1 year or will i void the warrenty if i don't get it serviced at the 100hr mark because if i service it every 100hrs thats 2 full services a year quite expensive 50% is trolling so not hard driving

has anyone run into this problem before? thanks for any advice

cheers scott

Such are the joys of 4 stroke ownership. If you want to retain your warranty, get it to your dealer.

i would be getting it service to keep your warranty on your outboard, your lucky mate if your only paying for 2 services a yr,i normally do 3 a year and have twins...cost me bout 2500 a year on service but that's part of the costs of having a boat.if your worried about these service costs maybe don't have a boat..

i understand where you are coming from money is not the problem.
it was just a question on if i void my warrenty if i service once a year or if i have to service every time i hit 100 hours. now no person i know wants to spend money if they don't have to. if you are needing three services a year you must do quite a lot more fishing than the normal fisho as my wife already thinks i am on that dam boat to much.
congrats to having the time to spend on the water i envy you and the free time you have in this day and age. i still have to work my backside off and keep up relations with the wife and young kids then squeeze fishing... i certainly was not thinking am i going to be able to afford a $500 service if i buy this $80,000 boat i did do my homework

Hours, Got the same motor and my guy said after 20hr see you at 100. isnt that why the light comes on at these intervals and not yearly. I think its in the book.

Shouldn't that be 120?

Yep just had mine (Yamaha) done yesterday. Same thing. Every 100hrs it comes up with a warning to maintain. I am with you though JSM. Why are they so expensive to service? I know, and accept, the costs each year or so but am perplexed to why it costs so much.

should be but it appears that would affect the red light

well my 20hr service was completed in under 2 hrs as i dropped it of at 12pm and i got a call saying it was ready at 2.30 and got stung $600 at least they should wait a couple of hours before ringing to make it feel like you got your money's worth IMO

Mate that is a ripoff. My 20hr was $320. All they do is change oil in leg and motor and filters, Tighten a few nuts, Run the motor and give a print out to see if there were any alarms.
