Hi all,

I'm a beginner when it comes to Jewies and want to try a pyramid or star sinker and let the line run out through it freely, as recommended by many, many people. How does this work on an Alvey though, I ALWAYS run a swivel about my sinker because of line twist but cannot do this if I want my line to run freely through the sinker

Can anyone tell me if this still works on an Alvey? My guess is the larger diameter on the hole through the sinker means the line can still twist through it?

I use something like this with a pyramid or grapnel if its very rough

1. 60cm piece of line.. dropper loop one end (attach your sinker) swivel the other end.
2. 15cm piece of leader.. hook one end, swivel the other end.
3. pass your mainline through the sinker dropper swivel and attach it too the swivel with your leader and hook.

when you cast out your bait it will sit off the bottom and if something grabs it it will slide freely through the sinker dropper...
I used to use this for snapper off the rocks and fish the reel in gear..
