Have a new bluefin wildcat 4.35 Has a 60 hp four stroke high thrust yamaha on the back Boat seems to take a while to get up on the plane Is this a problem with other wildcats or do I need to maybe adjust motor height or get a hydrofoil put on

Do you know if the motor is reaching max RPM?, you might be over propped, is the rig new?

Exactly that's why you buy a new one.

Thanks Just wanted to get a few opinions Will have to get the dealer to check it out Prop most likely the cause Do some adjustments Didn't think with motor the size I have it should take boat so long to get up on plane

Who talked you into the high thrust motor?

Take it up one hole before you play with the prop, adding a foil will help but will drop your top end speed with extra drag.

A 435 with a 60, you stick a foil on it and the foil should be nowhere near the water at WOT. The set-up is wrong. Take it back to the dealer to make it right, and ask him to explain why you needed the High Thrust motor.

This from the Yamaha site "Available in a range of horsepower from T9.9 all the way up to the beefy T60, our high thrust outboards have the muscle to move heavy pontoons and sailboats "

Yes agree Why would the dealer put a high thrust on that rig?.......Was it cheap?.....I had the 4.5 Bluefin with the "normal" 60hp yammie 4strk and it was fine even with 3 on board and a bit of gear I just had to use the trim button accordingly............Sounds like the dealer had some stock he needed moved on to me........

Dealer talked me into getting high thrust motor Said it better for a heavy boat like bluefin wildcat Paid I think extra $200 for the high thrust

Sorry to say Fish Head but I also think the High Thrust is the issue, though with a change of prop and perhaps a foil you will probably solve most of your problems.
I have a Bluefin Wildcat with a 60hp 4st Merc and it doesn't have any problems getting up onto the plane. I don't think they are too heavy at all either.

Mate the dealer is talking out his arse..........Plenty of standard 60's on 4.8 top enders and alike......a mate has one on a old Haines V16r which he converted into a barra style boat and it is heavy....really heavy and the 60 still gets it up and to around 25-26kts,

Get it swapped mate.

The gear ratio of the High Thrust is 2.33:1 compared to 1.85:1 for the standard 60. It will work, with the correct prop. If the dealer talked you into it, make him get it to perform properly. A 60 on a 435 doesn't need a High Thrust. They're designed for 5.8mt Pontoon boats and really heavy hulls. The High Thrust should be better on holeshot, and worse at top end, however if they've propped it for better top end it may struggle out of the hole. It's the dealer's responsibility to make it perform for you.
