Ok,

Planning a boys trip mid October, we all live in the brisbane area, and can knock off lunch on a friday.

We need suggestions we want to fish, we have boats and 4wds and we dont care if its beach or river or bay fishing. Basically want some suggestions that are any where from 4 to 6 hours away, where we can catch a few fish.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree with the above.

camping at a places like Carlo Point at Rainbow Beach offers plenty of options.

Fraser Island is always on top of the lists, of course.

Baffle Creek is further away...

and maybe other places like Miara... nice and quiet and out of the way with options.

This area will also allow you to visit Monduran Dam for some Barra action...

good luck and if you need further advice or have questions....post away :)

cheers LP

If you don't want to head north.. Make it 6.5hrs and head down to Scott's head/grassy head/SWR/arakoon area.

Yeah mate, we do a day trip there every once in awhile (live fairly local). Haven;t camped there, though I've passed many camp sites. Seems like a nice place to camp - you have to take everything though - no facilities where we've been.

Whachya want to know?

I guess for a start is the fishing any good? clearly there is beach fishing, but was also wondering about the creeks at either end?

Is there a local tackle/bait shop near by, that we could stop in and have a chat on the way through?

Any other bits of info you care to share? Like what's the best way in (northern or southern?)

Day trips there have been picnic/kids focussed. Haven;t even wet a line there to be honest - although I've heard lots of god stories about the beach and the creeks. WOuld imagine they are fairly well stocked with flathead at present. JAcks and barra are not at all uncommon there either. We're in BUndy - so out entry has always been from then north off Goodwood road. Tackleworld in Bundy are good blokes and will help you out with spots etc - but that;s probably not much good for you coming from south.

Only other help I can really give is to say the tracks have always been good when we've been there. Soft on occasion but with firm stuff under the powder. Watch any flooded tracks (if applicable) as they can be unexpectedly deep. Have had 2 'OMG' moments when I was convinced the landy was about to start inhaling water.

Thats about all I fan offer, really. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Straddy? Why waste the petrol and time going further. There is a beach and a pub and a bottleshop and a bowls club. Did I mention the pub and the beach..............
