Yep, I'm that desperate! I have Googled the whole world and after getting a new one from the States - the wrong one - I have officially given up!

The part is a Carter Mechanical Fuel Pump M61073 P/N 609083F24A for a Ford Windsor 5.6L V8 inboard motor (off my Whittley Cruisemaster)

The P/N is essential as you will find squillions of the M61073 pumps out there but they come in many shapes and sizes!

The one I got overseas in error was for a Chevy Cleveland 5.7L Motor, the only visible difference was the length of the lever arm that sits on the Camshaft, far too short around 1.5" instead of some 4-5"
I did some "work" on it and actually managed to swap the levers over and whilst the pump seems to work OK, I have lost a lot of top end power and suspect it may be not be as simple as just changing over the lever arm!

So, back to the problem, I'll cough up fifty bucks cash to anybody who can source a NEW one of these in Oz! I have been to all the overseas distributors and spare parts firms but can't take another risk of buying the wrong one! There may (?) be some good, reconditioned ones locally but I sure haven't been able to get one!

Trust I haven't broken any Forum rules by offering this reward?

ps Don't bother with Amazon.com who "say they have one!", they don't; irrespective of what they advertise!

PM me if you have any luck or give me a bell on 0421 625 845, and I'm serious about the fifty bucks providing of course it is a workable pump in good condition and it works 100% on my boat obviously!

Worth considering changing fuel pumps to electric? Buy them everywhere for about the price you offer on reward.

I did look at that option but advice from dealers was that I would need special outflow testing equipment to ensure the right psi was being delivered! He said it couldn't be done without it! Wonder if I am being misled here?

Thks for reply!

Special outflow testing equipment?

what like a flow rated marine suitable low pressure electric pump for your application with a fuel pressure regulator to suit your carb if required..

I buy my car parts from them, good to deal with.
Good luck.

Mechanical fuel pump for a Windsor V8? Who cares if it's not the original Carter pump, get an aftermarket fuel pump. Every second speed shop will have or can get a fuel pump for a Windsor.

Try
http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/5709

or
http://www.outlawspeed.com.au/shop/index.php/page/shop/browse/category_id/198e9720fcc29e69413a774f3fc8e513

Just a a quick search gave those two, I imagine there will be many more.

PS. If you are experiencing a loss of "a lot of top end power" with your hybrid pump per your post, don't continue to use it. If the pump is failing to keep up with fuel flow and the carby is starving you will be leaning out the motor up top which can result in very high combustion temps and potential damage.

Cheers

Identify what motor you have then go & buy a new pump from a Ford dealer.
Here's a couple of links, don't rely 100% on the content but it's a starting point.

I'll vouch for summit also. Spent a few grand over the years on parts and tools. I thought of them as soon as I read what you needed.
