G'day,
I have a question about regarding my new engine that requires clarification. On the right side of the engine is a white vac fitting, that only has a line on one outlet. Is this normal, or is there a missing line? When the engine is running, I can put my finger over the fitting and feel the vacuum. I will attach a pic of the offending fitting...

Did you ask the dealer from where you bought it from?

Hi Mate,

I've got a 2008 60 hp Merc fourstroke and mine is exactly the same.
Can't tell you why or what that bit does though.

Cheers
Robert

Looking at buying a 60, 4 stroke and was not considering Merc but dealer claims they are extremely good for corrosion etc. Any thoughts on Yamaha V Merc.

Heard Yamaha has more corrosion problems but haven't had one to know

The 60 Merc 4sts aren't too bad as far as corrosion goes, I've a 2006 model with no probs at all. Keep the Inox or whatever you use up to the trim n tilt unit and the mounting brackets. My Merc mechanic told me if it does happen, that's where it will probably be.

idle air control valve. IAC Gives you a even idle as the solonoid allows metered air into plenum. Only one pipe should be attached and teh other open and yep you will feel manifold vac pressure and it will vary as idle changes.
