Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a some more boat seats as the my old ones split in the plastic base that attached to the pedestal. Any really good quality ones out there? Most are cheap. Photo attached shows my old ones that broke. Cheap crap. I'm a big fk so they need to be good

Can you repair with a plywood/aluminium base screwed to the existing plastic?

I have the same seats and have often thought about doing that to mine. Needs a stiffer base in them that's for sure.

The problem is actually in your question..... The words good quality and cheap don't often go together! Almost any boat shop will be able to get very good ones for you, but they sure won't be cheap.

Check out Boat and RV Capalaba, I looked everywhere for good seats to suit my boat.

Ended up getting the Axis H52 not cheap at all, but fantastic seats. I mounted them on slides also.

I have made some with 12mm marine ply & some good foam then got a trimmer to cover them..
You could mount a bench seat setup onto of a good size esky which is what i am about to do.

LOL being big dont help at all im 6 "1" and 110 kilo.

Yeah I could have done that but they were pretty bad. Both had split the same. I have just seen some stuff from Raeline. Look real nice.

Dimension wise they aren't big wide seats, I had limited space to work with, as my boats beam is only 1.9m. So I looked far and wide for this
style of seat that wasn't too wide or long. They are quite heavy, as they are solid and strong.

They may be a bit of overkill for a 4.5m tinny, but I busted two cheaper seats in my last 4.75m tinny, so they are not cheap when you have to replace them anyway.

Shop around there are lots of seats out there, bias, whitworths, Boating and RV, CH Smith, Raeline, you can find most info online, but make sure you check them out in the flesh before you buy.

Cheers,

Matt

The pic of your boat looks very much like my recently acquired 2009 4.4 mtr. Sea Jay Territoty ,it has the original sea jay plastic seats which are not very comfortable , I am keen to see what you settle on as I would like to upgrade mine to padded folding seats preferably moulded skipper style as some padded seats tendto let you slip sideways.

I believe Seajay boats now come standard with padded seats but I will bet they are expensive to purchase

Any suggestions welcome

I purchased similar from whithworths apx .six months ago ,reasonably comfy but do tend to let you slip sideways on change of direction at speed , nearly had my missus on the floor last outing .

Also found that the upholstery on the back rest is fastened with steel staples
that are rusting ,they should be stainless but aint very disappointing

Considering buying some on ebay but unsure of what the quality will be like. I guess you cant complain with 2 seats for $100.
Looked at buying brand new back to back seats. $450 each. Thought I'd get some old extremely used ones however rehupolsterer quoted $1700 so that was definitely a no go.
