Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has made a removable transducer bracket for their tinny? I am wanting to take my transducer off as my boat is a car topper. I have a bow and transom mounted trolling motor so am I better off attaching my transducer to my motor? Would it be best at the bow or transom?

Any help or photos would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Mike

I did exactly what you are talking about to my tinny as it goes on top of my camper trailer. Go to whitworths grab yourself one of these https://www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?item=32379&search123=bracket&intAbsolutePage=1 or BIAS http://www.biasboating.com.au/Transom_Mount_Brackets_Anodised_Alloy_p/1155.htm and mount it onto your transom to suit.

The plate slides out of the channel and I simply cable tie the plate with the transducer (which is mounted to the plate) to the bracket that stiffens up the transom when the tinny is on the CT.

I use this on a kayak. Has never come off even when beaching it still attached. A little pricey for what it is - you could try create with a plungers suction up. Just make sure you use a tether in case you hit something and it falls off.

Thanks AXL, they do look like the easier option rather then making some. about $10 if I remember correctly.

Metro_fisher, it does seem pricey for what it is.

I got one of the track thingies that Axl suggested when i bought my "camping" tinny 8 years ago.

I sikaflexed the track to the transom in the appropriate spot (no holes!!). Worked a treat for the camping trip that followed and still works well to this day - though its been a permanent fixture for the last 7.5 years..... (i.e its a regular tinny way more than a camping tinny and i've left the transducer as is for permanent use)

I used a suction cup mount for years on my last tinny. It worked brilliantly. The sounder was attached to one of those gunnel mount storage boxes that also held a small sealed 12v battery. The transducer fitted inside for storage

Thanks Moffy and horse, I will definitely look into this. The fact I can sikaflex it on with no holes sounds great or use the suction cup mount.

Has anyone got an photos of any home made transducer brackets that have made? Would really like to see them.
