I am on the move and want to live where I want to live this time and not be controlled by family or jobs...

I am well setup for fishing Barramundi with an excellent boat/sounder rig and want to experience the best fishing this country can offer consistently.

I am focussed on NQ and in particular AYR or Proserpine.

I have read about the Burdekin and Lake Proserpine offering mouth watering experience for catching big barra.

Any other areas I should be considering to settle down for a while and catch great barra on a regular basis?

Not interested in anywhere except northern Queensland area and south of Daintree ...

Ayr hands down, excellent saltwater barra fishery that is well under rated.

thanks

I see a lot more information on lake prissy than Ayr on the internet about the big barra, etc..

What is the name of the saltwater barra fishery you refer to?

how is this better than Lake Prossy, etc?

Prossy dam then Kinchant dam, Mackay, for my money.

Thanks Bobby.

Why is Prossy dam your number 1 pick over Ayr?

Where are the saltwater barramundi fisheries located?

The saltwater fishery is the Burdekin River. Proserpine dam is a freshwater lake which is stocked with barra.

Upstart is on the money: Burdekin river from Curls landing down good barra country, then there always just about every creek north up Morrises creek (some call it barramundi creek)

I'm sure freshwater barra are good as well.....?

ps Ben how is gods country ATM I havent been back for years.

Salties are leaner and faster. They fight better and are much better eating.

Prossy is only an hour or so soth of the Burdekin so you can have the best of both worlds

Know of a great house for sale at Alva Beach.
Pick of areas to live around Ayr if you like access to Rivers and Beach Launch. Quad bike up beach to set the Mud Crab traps. Top spot.

Yep, I know a few people who live at Alva. Great fishing there.

thanks boys.

What about The WhitSundays though? How does this perform for the Salt?

Thinking of living in Proserpine and be central to lake prissy and WhitSundays....

I see a lot more videos and pictures (via WWW) large barra taken in lake Prossy than The Burdekin.

I will check out Alva Beach. Sandflies at Alva Beach?
