I was told that the first one's were built in Wynnum & used as rescue boats, I had one of those as well a Yellow one, but can't find any more info..

You can search on a manufacturer there. It does have Express boats listed. The first boat is not supposed to be there but not sure if the rest are by the same builder.

I worked for Express boats in Wynnum in the late 90’s toearly 2000’s I would have built that boat. I owned the very first prototype ofthat hull in a tiller steer. If you want any more info give me a buzz on 0433203 269.
Cheers Lochie
A guy named David Payne built them at Wynnum. I think he went to Fiji and built alloy long boats which I have seen a few over here and in Fiji. They were called "Better Boats".

That's right Davo.
i only ran into him last year when I was voting.... He was handing out how to vote cards :-)
still building boats.
i see a few of the 'better boats' getting around.
The last boat I built with him was a big cat.... We built it here then pulled it apart and put it in a container and sent it to Kiribati.... The locals over there than reassemble it.
thats where 90 % of express boats went.
