Well the time has come where my trusty old yamaha 90hp 2stoke has a knock that isnt worth fixing (mechanics words). I am looking at getting another motor to bolt onto the back of the old yatala craft. Im not a millionaire so i cant stick a new 90fourstroke on it (wife would kill me) and i dont want to finance it (wife would kill me) im looking around the 5 grand mark and am wanting to get a few suggestions on where i should start looking and what have other ppl done in a similar situations..
Cheers in advance,
Nathan.

Replace it with the same ( minus the knock tho lol) plus you would have spares from your old one and keep all the gauges etc. hopefully the link works

cheers guys.. I have figured with some help that the best option is to deffinately have the mechanic who would be servicing it to source it for me and fit it.. the links were helpful too and both the yamies were pretty much the same as the current motor.. cheers guys :)

i think that 90hp yamaha u have has a one piece crank (all pressed together) if me i would rebuild it, u can buy rebuild kits on ebay $600 delivered http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-75-90-3-Cyl-Powerhead-Rebuild-Kit-75HP-85HP-90HP-/380165509896?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item5883a15308

than just send your crankshaft to greg balls engineering in sydney he'll rebuild it like new cost will vary depending on what u need replaced but he'll reuse your webs and 2 rods if salvageable and replace all the bearings so u have a re manufactured crankshaft

u can buy "work shop maunals" on ebay for about $10 u can be a complete engine rebuilding novice and it'll walk u thru every step of the tear down, inspect, and rebuild

its much cheaper than buying another engine that could last u 2 hours or 200 hours even with all the proper checks a mechanic will do
