I am looking to but an electronic boat trailer winch to use with my 4.8 metre Quinnie c/c for retrieving when using on the beach at Fraser/DI. I am after a reasonably high speed reliable brand for quick retrieves in sloppy conditions on the beach.
I currently have a manual 2 speed ARK winch and today stripped 5 teeth off the gear wheel on a manual load at the Mool. ramp and the winch is 18 mths old. Not very impressed at all.
I have heard of a guy in Iluka who does a high speed retrieve winch but haven't spoke to him as yet.
Would appreciate any advice at all.

Just weld it all up. I have had the tmax for about 8 years. Awesome. , muchus gruntus for my 21foot glass boat and can haul it up dry. Long plug in f and r remote with hold when buttons released. Can stand at back of boat and hold it against wind while using remote. No advantage in a marine winch.

I pull up a 17' glass boat dry with a powerwinch 315.
By memory 15 feet per minute and only 25A or so, they come with wiring loom back to the battery, circuit breaker & removable plug/socket at winch.
You will find the supercheap chinese ones are painfully slow and the faster ones are more expensive and come with a high current penalty needing huge cables and possibly a trailer mounted battery.
That's my take on it FWIW.
Put a towball on the bulbar and use the car winch. You should be able to just skull drag a 4.8 quinny up the beach and dry load it though?

You may be able to buy a cheap radio control dongle to go on your keyring and wire in solenoid receiver switch.

Craig,
How ya doin?
Picked me in one, getting soft in retirement.
Stripped 5 teeth off the cog wheel on my manual winch last Monday at Mool ramp.
Too strong for me own good, ha, ha.
Thought before I replace the manual winch I would check out the alternatives.
Powerwinch seems to be popular so might have a look at one and make the comparison.
Do you still get to DI?
I'm going to fraser in mid April, could be busy being Easter.
