Hi, I am after some advice re attaching a Transducer Bracket to a painted ally Transom.
I want to attach something like a 'plate' of Marine Ply or a 'plate' of Cutting Board to the transom.
I can then screw bracket to the 'plate' & in the future be able to move/change bracket without drilling lots of new holes in the hull.

q) Could the 'plate' just be glued [& if so what sort of glue] ?
or should it also be bolted on ?.
Thanks.

If you clean the surface area and glue a big enough board , use sikaflex 291

I made this board up for my boat out of a piece of Starboard given to me by Fatbouy. I used Epiglue to stick it to the transom of my fibreglass boat, I drilled 13mm main hole into the back of the board in six locations, then a series of 1/8th holes on an angle then filled them with the Epiglue prior to sticking to the back of the transom. Worked a treat and no extra holes in the boat to worry about!

Why not weld a c section aluminium mount to the transom and touch up paint the transom and mount.
