dont know it it helps but i had a haines 19c with a 200 optimax on the back. Weights are pretty close on hull, motor, 220 litre fuel. No 3 fat doods though...
It used to run out at 84km/hr.

different motor though.......

You might be struggling with 175 hp I recon, that's a pretty weighty boat. I recon you want a 200 or 225

my thoughts as well, i would always go more hp than less, a 200 would be close to the mark imo.

I've got a 6.2m Seafarer that's probably similar to your Hull. I'm running a 200 Suzi and it's got grunt to burn! Loading the boat with guts qnd gear, does not really dent its performance. If you can stretch to the 200, go for it! If not, I'm sure the 175 would be fine.

For about the same weight you could get a Yamaha F200.

I have a Suzuki 175 on my 6.2m boat, more than enough power, but agree you can't have enough.

I too have got a 6.2 Seafarer Vagabond (heavy boat) and I run two 115HP Evinrudes and it loves them. Thats 230HP with two legs.

175 to me is bottom end.
Mate has a 175 on his Surties 6.7 (6.2) and his mate has same boat with a 200. The difference is significant.

I have a 175 suzuki on my 639 Stacer, it's absolutely awesome. My local mechanic told me the 175 is the only engine in the range with all of the same good gear as the flagship 300hp engine, whereas the other models don't.

The original Reef Runner was rated to 188hp. Most ran 888 Mercruisers (302 Ford v8). My father had his specially made with a 235 Mercruiser (351 Ford). The outboard versions ran the biggest Merc of the day, the 175 Black Max.

Great news Aussie, surly the newer suzi175's will be just as or better than the old black max, you'd think hey

She should be a ripper with the Suzi on it. Dad's would do about 50 mph. It would pull a waterskier out of the water on a single ski with 10 people in the boat.

Got a 6.2m Glass Haines Traveller, 200L on board and most of the time gear around 50kg+ , Fully loaded a think she must be close to 2 ton . Got 500 hrs on now without any problems. Top speed around 47 knots, very light on fuel.

I have a Haines hunter profish 6.25 hull weighs the same as yours, about the same weight in the crew and a 230ltr tank.. the zuke 175 pushes the boat perfectly, I have posted fuel figures before if you do a search.

The boat does not want for horsepower and leaps out of the hole, economy is good.
