G'day guys just wondering if anyone knows a good bloke or shop on the sunny coast that I can get my motor serviced. I got a price from caloundra marine at over $300. Is that about what I'll be looking at? It seems a bit much to me but if that's it I'll deal with it.

Cheers

$220-$240 is max money for standard yearly service, Caloundra are a rip off, get onto your nearest Mercury dealer, why take it to a Suzi-disperin/Ebomb dealership

Cheers oldie. I remember they used to be a merc dealer but have since changed. That was the only reason for asking them. $220-$240 sounds a lot better than #300+ thanks again mate.

The 25 Merc isn't a Tohatsu.

Try North Coast Boating at Warana. Merc dealers and real good people.

25hp Merc 'sea pro' (the only 2s Merc 25 currently offered) is a Tohatsu motor. Older 25hp Merc 2s models (with the F-N-R and stop on the tiller handle) are made in USA - not Tohatsu. Not much involved in servicing one and 200-250 sounds fair.

If the 25hp Two Stroke Merc was produced between 1983 and 2006 it was made in the USA and is not related to a Tohatsu in any way. As Joey said, if it is a Sea Pro model it is a rebadged Tohatsu.

Thanks for the info guys. My motor is a 2004 so it must be the USA model. Ill give the guys at North Coast a try.

Cheers

Agree that a Merc dealer should be able to service it for $200-250 easy.

I have Merc 30 (Tohatsu), and love it, great little motor.

They are a very basic motor, so I service it myself as it's only 2 spark plugs, and impeller kit, and gearbox oil. Takes an hour, tops.

One thing I swear by is running the Quicksilver Premium Plus 2 stroke oil. Tried others, but found OEM stuff made it smoke less, and run smoother.

Best modification was to fit a set of $70 Boyeson Kevlar power reeds. Smoothed out the engine, and feels stronger at the top end.

Last service I had on my 15 super at a merc dealer was just shy of $250.00. Mate was quoted $450 the other day for a 50 yammy 2 banger. Find out what you are getting for your money before you jump to conclusions. Some dealers may quote including a complete water pump kit - others may only include the impeller.

Sorry mate only just seen this thread but Ken Lewis is the man for the Sunshine Coast, he will come to you and I think it is around $260 and he does know his motors, he goes through the lot, the only bloke I know who even takes off the zinc anodes cleans them up so there is a good connection. If you want his number for future jobs send me a PM.

I ended up going to Port o call boating. Cost me $280 for the whole nine yards so to speak. Old mate was pretty helpful. He is a Tohatsu dealer but services everything. Think I might get Ken Lewis's number from Dignity though. If it's going to be roughly the same price I might as well go with him. Saves having to take the boat anywhere
