I have to move the lever almost all the way to the end of its limit before my outboard will go into reverse . The cable is very stiff in both directions which I've gotten use to but when I put get in reverse the throttle is almost all the way down before the revs kick in. How do I fix this ? Mercury 115 4 stroke . Cheers

check the condition of your lower mounts. if the mounts are damaged or badly corroded they could be putting pressure on gear shifting?

G'Day Makita,
If you are still under warranty take the boat straight back to the dealer.
If you are out of warranty take the boat straight back to a mechanic you trust.
It appears that this is a long term problem. It is also a MAJOR safety issue. If you cannot throttle up or down or go into reverse quickly you are driving an accident that is waiting to happen.
You need professional assistance ASAP.
