Noticed this, http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/eu/news/index.aspx?id=560451
Wonder when they will release it here? Like the new F200G this is lighter than the current 150hp 4 stroke. Wonder when they will release a lighter 150hp?

Not a real biggy they just detuned there 200 to a 175, it's a wonder they didn't just do it when the 200 came out

Being a yamaha it just detuned itself with age.

Not exactly a detuned 200, no variable cam timing.

Whats the diff take away variable valve timing and adjust the mapping in the ecu, It's still the same engine platform as the 200

Don't think they had to re invent the wheel on this one

I think you may have misinterpreted "detuned", removing variable valve is in fact detuning, tuning is not limited to adjustments and "tuning"

Adding a 175 is about time, they really need to get a 130 or 135 4 stroke in their range, dont understand why they dont

Unfortunately the North American boating market is where the boating manufacturers seek to fulfil the demand for engines, this is what dictates what models are produced and released.

I think there's many 5.2kevlacat owners waiting with baited breath for a light weight 90hp four stroke.

Is Honda or any of the other manuafacturers looking at bring out any of their own lightweight mid/large range motors Garry? When it comes time for me to change, these light weight 175/200 are within my range.

Yamaha seem to be phasing out the higher hp 2 strokes. Nothing above 130hp appears on their site anymore so wouldn't be surprised if eventually they introduce a motor between the 115 and 150.

Compare: Yamaha 115 HP @ 170kg to Merc 80 HP @ 180kg. Sea change happening it seems.
