It's getting quite dear now hey. All the more reason for us to want to catch it ourselves. Just wish it wasn't such a mission to catch a feed.
Maybe it's just my ordinary fishing skills?

That's from James St the valley? Yes always expensive there, but also very good. The sushi next to it is really good!

My local fish market has Flathead tails for $16.95KG, you are getting ripped off big time.

If we ban inshore professional netting like some here are asking for, get ready for $90/kg for imported taiwanese frathed firrets......

I wouldn't buy that imported crap if it was the only fish left on earth. I'd go without fish if that was the only option. Maybe the pro's should try using a rod like the rest of us. In my personal opinion there would be more flathead, whiting, tailor, bream around for your average bloke and his family to catch if the netters stopped raping the water ways and beaches. Just my opinion, some will agree and some will disagree with me, I realize that. Please don't have a melt down.

I'd be interested to know what the costs of the other seafood in the shop was. I used to fish with a mate and when he found out someone we knew, that fished, bought a flathead, he said "you paid for flathead?"

So the fish as a whole would be fetching 4 bucks a kilo given about 75% wastage.. imagine if the markup is 100% then the pros would be getting 2 bucks a kilo or maybe less.. pretty sad hey, thats to say i think that flathead are more worthy of 2 bucks a kilo..

No I'm not getting ripped off big time because I didn't buy them

Most fish in the shop were around $50 to $60 a kg for fillets, some salmon and tuna steaks were in the $80's per kg

I would imagine coming from James St, their would be a certain type of Clientele.

Mt Gravatt Fisho Xmas Eve, Hand Picked Muddies $60 kg, Lobster $95kg, Prawns various sizes between $44 kg up to $60 kg. Flattie and Whiting fillets $49 kg.

I buy fish all the time, there is certain things I like that I can't catch myself, so I buy it, I would not buy things like Snapper, Tuna, crabs, lobsters and so on, because I catch all I need, and even though I do catch Flathead, the tails make for good buying , there is a hell of a lot of tails in a KG I can tell you.
