Can anyone give me any ideas of possible reasons my motor won't start. It turns over, but just won't start. I have cleaned the plugs and there is fuel pressure. Started first time 2 weeks ago. Please help

Hi pauleanne

Simple stuff first. Has someone pulled the safety lanyard off and not reinstalled it?

Cheers

it is a push key choke while cranking push key in to choke should only have to do so once when it fires. The lever you lift is throttle once the motor has fired with choke give it a little bit of throttle 'lever you lift' and it should start providing it has spark and fuel. Most likely you have flooded it they are very prone to flooding the old johno's, Go through everything check you have fuel clean filter have spark at the plugs, pull each one out individually and check whilst cranking. also check that the choke is activating when you push the key in you should hear a click in the motor when the ignition is on and you push in the key.

It's a 1981 motor

Motor starting procedure, prime bulb until hard, lift lever at least half way up, turn key to start position and push key in... When motor starts, return lever back to normal/idle position.

Oh, and replace the plugs, cleaning them is waste of time, make sure they are the correct type (Champion plugs) and set to the correct gap.
