8hp Leg shift shaft fallen out!

My shift shaft has fallen out when replacing the impeller in my Yamaha 8hp. This has happen to me before but some how I managed to get it back into the correct place again... not this time. I think a roll pin stopping it coming out too far has corroded. Any one had this problem before? is there a trick I don't know!!

Just in case someone else has this problem.

The selector shaft on this model can be pushed pack into place went aligned correctly. The roll pin prevents the shift shaft pulling out to far (can happen when removing leg). I have replaced it with one from a local auto shop as Yamaha don't supply it as a separate part. Problem solved.
