Bought a spare wheel hub, unpacked it, & double checked
it was the correct size/type by fitting it into the spare wheel,
.... no go, WTF!.

Spare wheel rim looks exactly same [alloy, white, same style etc]
as wheels on axle, so I would guess it came with the trailer from new.
The only difference was the tyre [unused].
After some thought I realised I was presuming the spare was also same 'size'.
... pulled a wheel off the axle & the new hub fitted it perfectly !?.

Measured PCD [info from cormorant post] & it seems the trailer has
- 13" Ford Wheels on axle &
- !3" HT as a spare :o
BMT all 2002.

I got caught with a car I brought years ago, don't know what the spare was off but it wasn't the car it was in....

Lucky you did not find that out on the side of the road a long way from home !

Very common problem and easy to make mistake and you won't be the last person caught with that one.

People do the bearings and they are holden and instantly assume that the PCD is the same and buy a spare and a holder or a replacement for one that got stolen. In years long ago it would have been a non issue but for the last 20 odd you can get hubs with either bearings and either PCD combination as they are specifically manufactured for trailers not just old car hubs. The easiest give away for pcd is the stud size as they are different.

Just happy you found out now not on the side of the road begging for someone else to drive by with the correct one.

Hi timddo,

Thanks for your generous offer.

I am currently a Mexican & I now have a 'multi-fit' spare from spinny things,
Cheers.
