On name and resale alone I would probably go the Haines. Having said that though, I've had a good look at the Baysport recently and they look quite good. Appear well made, if a bit basic, but pretty good value for the money. The 585 seemed to have a bit of deck space.

Sounds like you have been given permission. Both have the options to attract the wife but could be easily made into a decent fishing platform.

If they were the only two I could choose form id go with the Haines, Ive been looking at boats around the same length myself lately as I am hoping to upgrade next year and I have pretty much narrowed it down to this http://www.boatpoint.com.au/boats-for-sale/boatdetails.aspx?R=13589545&Silo=Stock&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=14&eapi=2 similar pricing as what you are loooking at with the fuel savings of a 4 stroke motor.

Axl, we looked at one of them early this year - same dealer, still can't understand how they can legally be perched upon a single axle trailer given their weight.

After looking at both of them at the show it would be hard to decide. I didn't like the carpet in the Baysport. It was really fluffy and looked like a nightmare to keep clean. That shouldn't be hard to change.
If the trailer under the Haines is the one I am thinking it is you will want to upgrade it.
Who will give you the best deal on a 4 stroke upgrade?

On the Haines they wanted an extra k for a 100 FS and the baysport 4500 for a 115 FS.

What is marine tune offering for a 115hp 4 stroke though? Not a real price comparison 100 and 115hp. Would the Haines be ok with a 100 4 stroke?

Good question, Their both rated to 130 but recommended 115

Profish review and spec at the bottom. Rated from 115 to 150. I would think 115 at minimum.

Just my 2 cents worth...
They are both nice looking rigs, but if the budget is rock solid, I would look at an older Hull with a 4 stroke or DI 2 stroke. The new tech motors ARE really worth shelling out for. Good luck with your decision either way.
