Hi All,
Thought some of you guys might find these figures of interest.

We took an Origin 8 mtr Axis with a Yanmar 6 LPA with a ZT 370 Leg (315 hp) and an Origin 7700 Evolution with twin 140 hp Suzukis out to the Swains Reef a couple weeks ago. Both boats were fully loaded.
In total we did 202 nms.

The Diesel used 270 ltrs for the trip and the twin outboards used 370 ltrs.

Both figures were quite impressive.

Average cruise speed was around 22kts.

Cheers OB

Both great looking boats. How does the ride of the diesel compare to the twins? What sort of range would that deliver for both boats? Sure is a great test to run out there. A quick report and a few photos wouldn't hurt either ;)

Both boats carried 500 ltrs of fuel. So close to 400 nms in the diesel and about 280nms in the outboard boat.
The diesel boat is a another 5-600 kgs heavier than the outboard boat.
I guess the diesel was a bit better seeing it is bigger and heavier and has more of a big boat feel. You can notice the weight difference mainly when you swap boats.
It was a great trip with pretty good weather and will bang up a bit of a report soon in the fishing forum.

Cheers OB

Left a place called Notch Point just south of Sarina.
Close to 67 miles to the first reef.
8mtr boat approx 3700kgs ( 4 people)and the 7700 (3 people) about 3200kgs
8 mtr boat has 18 degree deadrise on transom and the 7700 21 degree.

I will be looking forward to your report on the trip OB. Can you give me a rough price difference between the diesel install V the twin Suzis. At what size boat do you think the diesel becomes a viable option?

Cheers
