Fished South Straddie Beach last week ( opposite North Curragee camp site ) Fished with Pillies & Yabbies managed 6 nice flatties , a few small dart & a couple of Bream.

we generally pump yabbies at dunwich then head over to main beach for the whiting/bream/flathead or flinders for the odd bream and truckloads of dart. Around this time of year you're a chance of a good tailor or two at flinders as well.

Taylor will run along the beach, more so down south towards the Pin. There have been a few jew down at the pin and surrounding. There are a few pippie banks on Main Beach which you should locate on low tide. Dont waste your time fishing Flinders but head to main for a look unless its blowing a strong NE, SE or E. What are you targetting?

G'day,
We were there about 6 weeks ago. This time of year there's still good big bream but better may-June. Main beach and down around the pin area is best. Look for the holes for the best bream. You will find you might get 3-6 and they'll go off so find another hole.
We probably got 60 over 3 days kept nearly 40 with the smallest 28 and the biggest 36. The tailor havnt really shown up this year. We managed a few but only right on dawn and dusk.
Bream best bait is pippies and mullet fillet while pillies are best for tailor.
PS if you can pull worms there were plenty of school Jew about but none legal.

Thanks guys, personally I would be happy just for a feed! Would love to get on to a Jew haven't got one as of yet.

Going for a "fishing comp" so the biggest fish would be nice! Haha unlikely though, looks like breams most likely on main then?

All good info Marty but be careful down south of main beach. Apparently bit tricky getting around after about half tide and near impossible to get down the pin on the same water. This came from a few people I knew that were over there 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the heads up regarding beach conditions, we are planning on heading down to the pin as well. So Taylor like pipies?

No. Bream and dart like pippis. Tailor like pilchards or strips of salted bonito, tuna etc.
