So this motor came with my boat the history of the motor is that its done 390 hours and for the last 3-5 years it has sat pretty much unused. So Ive now replaced all the fuel filters spark plugs water pump water pump housing thermostats water lines and gearbox oil. And now I need to sort of the rest of the issues.
So with 3 trips on the motor Im starting to work out whats wrong with it. As I did not make the straddi M&G due to these issues Im hoping to get them sorted asap. So on sunday I took the boat for a run running at 3/4 throttle I put my multimeter on the battery to see what charge motor was putting out only 13.0 volts? I would have thought it would need to be higher then 14v? Also the rpm guage has stopped working? Its stuck on 5000rpm Someone mentioned to me this may have something to do with the rectifier? or stator? What do you guys think would be causing the issue?
And due to the motor sitting for so long Im assuming the carbies would want removing cleaning and new seals where needed. The motor has a few little miss's and flat spots in the rev range and I assume its the carbies? I am deffinately not touching these things so can someone recommend me somebody trustworthy to rebuild my carbies and tune my old motor up? I generally like to do things myself as a lot of trust has been lost with numerous business's But all the carbies need to be in sync with one another and it all looks to complicated and fiddly!
Cheers Tim
