I'm considering buying a tinny for fishing. My requirements would be:

2-3 persons
Preferably new
Tiller steer
Preferably 40 hp motor
4.0-4.5 meters
Lighter general fishing and some trolling
To be used in lower Brisbane River, Moreton Bay, and hopefully launched from Flinders beach at Straddie by 2 persons for close-in outside work when the weather is good
Can spend up to $16k

Any recommendations?

Apologies if this thread is repetitive, and let me know if more info needed. Cheers, Guys (& Girls)

I have had a Clark Pursuit 427 for over 12months now and love it. Have beach launched it 4 times off Straddie now, fished all over the bay and up the river. A good all rounder. I got it from Trevor at Karee Marine with a 40 4 stroke. With $16000 you will have change left over to fit extras such as GPS/sounder etc.
cheers

I think you will find quite a few meeting your spec's, but more importantly, price range. We recently went with a Quinny Renegade 4.2 with a 4st Yamaha 50hp. Depending where you are, the 40 hp version should be close to your budget. Just make sure though you compare "apples with apples", as some pricing will be with a cheaper unbraked trailer, by either not having a bow mount, or fitting something retro. This gets them around Telwater's requirement for a braked trailer once a bow mount goes on. You will find it an interesting exercise trying to sort out the best for your needs.

the 420 Renegade is definitely a good looking boat shop around for the best deal

Quintrex buster look a nice tinny and pretty cheap the renegade would be better again if you intend to fish in a bit choppier conditions.

Mate if you've got a bad back, or like a softer ride I'd look at polycraft, a lot heavier than a tinny but great boats in the slop and great on the back.

Hard to go past a Bluefin in that price range.....something like the Viking would be well worth checking out..........Much better build quality than most 3mm bottom and sides good welding etc.
