Hi guy's, looking at taking the kids fishing once a month or so and was wondering where is there some good places to go reasonably close to home. We live in Toowoomba, so Brisy would be the farthest we would travel. Anyone got any ideas they would like to share, not your secret spot's or anything, just some places we can go to catch a few fish :D. CHEERRS Woody....

You are actually in a prime location Woody, both my girls had some fun at Wivenhoe many years ago. On one outing we took a heap of bread and mixed with sand in a bucket, made little burley bombs ( which is always fun for kids making little doe cakes) then lobbing them about 10 feet from the shoreline. There used to be a heap of little gar fish that can measure to about 12 inches long. Suspend the tiniest hook 3 or 4 inches under a booby float ( half red half white round ones) and have a packet of Tweed prawns, but peel and put only enough to hide the hook a little. Awesome fun, they dance over the surface when caught on light line, only 2kg needed.

Failing that, plaster your prawns to the bottom as there are many catties in there. Will give them a big run for sure.

Good luck
