Hello All,

First, I have no affiliation with Cooper, I am just reporting on an experiment.

I have been using a 1kg plastic Cooper anchor on my 4.3m tinny with about two meters of chain.
That anchor is only meant for smaller boats, to 3.5m, but I tried it anyway.
I still carry the heavy Danforth ready to use.

The 1kg Cooper holds well in sand, on rocks eg. Middle Wall, Yamba, I shackled it to the hole at the base and had a zip tie in the main hole.
Seems to hold better on all bottoms in that configuration .
Not so good in weed, too light to dig in.

Summary, as a temporary fishing anchor quite OK and a huge improvement in ease of use.
I would still use the proper anchor when the boat is un-attended.

Hi Croc, i bought the 3.5kg alloy cooper for my 6.2m rib, have only used once out at the wrecks where we had an overnighter, impressed with it at this stage and expect once i add a little more chain it will be even better, i dont have confidence in the old style sand anchor but slept easy with the Cooper.
cheers
Mick

The cooper is alright in sand but mud or weed and they are useless.
