Seeming that i was becoming a little heated about the whole beach netting thing, here is something constructive.. For those that dont agree that netting or beach hauling is bad obviously this wont be of interest.
By the way its cut and pasted off Starlo someone who i respect..

Okay. The time has come to ACT on this current estuary netting debacle in NSW. We need you ALL to start phoning, emailing, faxing and writing to the NSW Fisheries Minister NOW... this week... today... and asking for an explanation of what's going on. The contact details you need are below:

The Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson, MP
Level 30 Governor Macquarie Tower
1 Farrer Place
SYDNEY NSW 2000
PH: (02) 9228 5210
FAX: (02) 9228 5969
Email: office@hodgkinson.minister.nsw.gov.au

See below if you need some guidance on the questions to ask:

"Minister, can you please explain why we recreational anglers are being asked to comment on proposed rule changes to reduce our bag and size limits while there is no such belt-tightening or catch reduction taking place in the commercial sector? And if it IS taking place there, can you please tell us bout it?"

"Minster, how can it be sustainable to mesh and haul box after box of slow-growing-long-lived fish such as bream from relatively small coastal lakes that remain closed to the sea for year after year? WE understand that this has been occurring for decades, but recently the effort and sophistication of this harvesting appears to have increased dramatically. What is being done RIGHT NOW (not in some vague future plan) to assess the longer term impacts of such intensive harvesting on these fragile waterways?"

... and so on. We're sure you can think of some pointy questions of your own to add and locations to mention, but please ask them NOW! Post on here to tell us what you asked and how you sent your query, and when you get a reply, share it with us. PLEASE do it now. A bunch of us have been working hard on your behalf (and our own, of course) and now it's time for you to do your bit. It will take five minutes. PLEASE do it now!
