Question regarding bag limits and Children.

My understanding is if a child is on board ( doesn't matter the age), he/she is class as a person and can catch the legal limit. Am i correct???

I have heard through other fishers that a child must be able to handle the apparatus to make it legal. Etc, a child must be able to pull up a crab pot, put new bait in and take the crabs out. A child must be able to pull the fish up and de hook it etc.

What are your thoughts.

For qlders - yes your understanding is correct.

http://www.daff.qld.gov.au/28_3045.htm

- No age limit applies to fishing in Queensland but children should be of an age where they can be responsible for the use of their own fishing gear.

Should not must and nothing in the actual legislation regarding responsible for own gear only this one line on their webpage which in a court of law means squat diddly.

As I have said before they cannot discriminate against the handicapped / elderly etc for requiring handling own gear and pulling pots.

edit - added
"Part 6Declarations about possessing or using particular apparatus
Division 1Regulated persons
65 Regulated persons for pt 6

Any person is a regulated person."

I still can't find the definition of "person" for australian law.
