I've been out of town for a few weeks, any luck catching crabs in the bay still? Trying to decide if it's worth putting out the pots. Thanks.

Hey Marto... Plenty sandies in Maroochy River ATM. I believe the crab season is a tad later up here than the Bay.

grunta I havnt been doin a lot of crabin lately when I have been settin the pots out for muddies... I have been keeping them alive till I want a feed...24 hr soak normally keeps ya in muddies for a couple of weeks

24hr soak is just that.... you leave your pots for 24hrs b4 u pull them again which give you 2 full tide runs both in and out

I vaguely call reading somewhere in a Fisheries report that some 20,000 muddies are taken illegally in Moreton Bay every year. This includes females, and undersized with the bulk being taken by our Asian friends to whom bag limits have no meaning! If its wet and moves then its fair game!

Don't believe this last comment? Go down to the Powerlines in the Bay during the prawning season and watch them in action! Prawns haven't got a chance!
