OK Anthony, here it is.

A brand new never been in the water 2012 Key West 176 BR. Saw this baby a couple of months ago but it was still to dear, the dealer finally dropped his price and I went for it. Bloody lucky, another day and I would have purchased a 2008 key West 176 CC I had been looking at, that was only $500 cheaper. The photo is not that clear as there is another boat behind mine. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Intending to get it fitted out with a few goodies before shipping it here. Going to get a Garmin 750 chart plotter but not sure if I'll get over there because of the maps.

What's a bunk trailer?

The trailer is set up with 2 solid bunks (beveled on the top) for the boat to sit on, no rollers
Look close at the pic, they are covered in black carpet

Piece of pi$$ to drive on/off solo
Self centering, 1m wide gap to aim at when driving on. Also if there is current flowing past the ramp, you can even approach the trailer from the side, ride the bow up onto the bunk, screw the back of the boat around and it will drop in between the bunks. Once you are inside the bunks it can't float back out, and centres itself as you ease forward to the winch post. Once up to the post, the boat won't slide back, I shut down, trim up and step off the front.

Just thought of who you were talking about, he's driving back from Sydney with it, so he wont need a container.

What's a bunk trailer?

Bunk Trailer/Skid Trailer = same thing. No rollers, boat slides up and down on carpeted or Teflon coated skids. Some bunk trailers will have centre keel rollers as well as the two skids.

Great Boat Bruce! Cant wait to see it in the flesh mate. How long till it arrives? I think a US Import M&G would be on the cards? I hope your not as impatient as me...the 3 months I waited felt like 10 years.....
What about a name........

Cheers

Congratulation very very nice boat

did you look at some other brands that are the same size and what did made you go for key-west ?

tropicrows

I post to all above.

Shipping could take a while if i want to wait and share a 40 ft container as I will have to wait until another boat comes along to share with. if I go with a 20 ft container it will be much quicker but cost a bit more.

Name- it's already got a name "Key West" that's the best I've come up with so far. Maybe "The chunder bucket"

The Sea Hunt 177 was another boat I was chasing. The KW 176BR I thought was better laid out for my needs, had a bit more room on the bow for a electric motor and also has a higher transom. Both are mid range boats in built quality and both very popular in the US. There are many bands over there and it takes a while sorting thru them.

Bruce

You have done very well. As I own the only other KW176BR in Qld, I can confirm you will love the ride of this boat. Give some serious consideration to having a set of M80 Bennett trim tabs fitted to your boat, but opt for the short actuator as the whole lot will sit under your swim step in a neat fit. The boat rides very well without them, but insanely good with them.

Give us a yell if you need any info or would like to look at one (even if it is a bit banged around) to start the planning. Mine is back at my place now whilst I work out what to do.

Cheers
Steve
