Hey readers, thought I'd post a bit of a write up and a few pics of the dash I'm making to flush mount my gps.

Started off making a cardboard template (didn't take pics if it but) to get the shape of the dash. Then transferred it onto some high density foam I had laying round. It's a lot easier to work with than ply.

Once I got the basic shape happening I had to trim it with the grinder in places to make a tight fit.

Then I screwed and glued the foam together with car bog. Once that dried I pulled the screws out so all the edges can be rounded for fibreglassing.

Will keep updating my progress as I go.

Looks good are you going to glass it onto the existing dash?

Not too sure how I will join it on yet. Either glass or talcum powder bog and sikaflex around the edges to sealift.

Corners all rounded ready for some glass.

Underside glassed. Will trim it when it dries and then do the top

Topside glassed, now time for a sand and a layer of bog over the top to make it all nice and smooth.

Should look good when you are done. Where did you get the foam from?

Looks great Mitch, well done!

Nothing is better than custom, designed and made yourself

Cheers midnight. My younger brother did the fibreglassing And the gel coat spraying. It was a pretty fiddly job.

You can be proud of that... great stuff. Can't beat conceived in you own head and built in your shed.
