The Ausfish fishing journal is designed to allow members of the Ausfish Australian Angling forums to quickly and easily take a photo of their catch and log details of the catch and post the information on the Ausfish.com.au Australian Angling forums.

The App will log
- Photo of the catch
- Species
- Date & time
- Location
- Location type
- Weight
- Length
- Photo and description of bait, lure, fly or soft plastic used
- Photo and description of reel used
- Photo and description of rod used
- Details of catch and trip

Also included is 13 animated fishing knots


You must be a current member of Ausfish.com.au Australian Angling forums, New member or above, and have an Internet connection to be able to log in to the App. Once logged in you can record your catch details with or without an Internet connection. The App will then post your report to the relevant section of the forums. If an Internet connection is not available at the time the App will record the details and upload the report to the forums once reconnected to the Internet.


This App is provided free of charge by Ausfish.com.au


There will be another version available for those that just want to record their catches and not upload to the forums. This will be a paid version, probably be $1.99 with free updates as they come available


Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

Ahh, I got one (just to be different), it's ok, does everything I need, I'll stick with it (even though MS shafted everyone with 7.5/8 vs 8...). Definitely short on aps though (hint hint).
Happy to be a guinea pig if a WP version ever comes into being :)

Does it give you any message, closes, etc....

What are you using it on, Ipad, Iphone 4, 5.....

What version of software are you running

Most likely due to incorrect usename and password.

Make sure you have them correct.

Same for me is it our ausfish handle and password or our Itunes one? Tried both and they both wont fire just stalls and freezes

That would be due to an incorrect username or password. Or not having a good Internet connection

Make sure you have your login details correct, case sensitive, etc...

You may want to try and log out of here and type your login details in so you know for sure you are using the correct details.


For the App to do what you describe it can only be either a bad username/password or bad internet connection.

Does the photo store the GPS location off the photo?

No. the GPS coordinates are stored on the App/Log Book, not uploaded to the forum. Just the Location name that the person enters is uploaded to the forum.

The images are uploaded as PNG files, no geotagging info in PNG files

Ok, looks like someof the issues were incorrect usernames or passwords, but we have also found a bug. Anyone with a space in their username can not login to the App. Will get that fixed ASAP, but will take a while for an update to go through the App Store system.

Have changed your usernames to thelump and cqfreshie without the spaces. Should allow you in now.

Anyone else that wants to use the App and has a space in their username can send me a PM and I will adjust their username as a work around.

Other than that I have not been fishing much of late , so yet to give it a good run.

Well I have an Iphone 4s.
I didn't worry about it too much because I logged in ok after a reboot of the phone.
So I ran it and entered wrong pass before I had rebooted or anything, it may have just been that.
Nothing big really, my phone has hung on plenty of apps.
Will let you know if it persists.

Don't know if its related but I have been unable to access the forum using tapatalk on my iPhone. I could log in and see the forum structure but no threads would load.
I logged in using safari from my iPhone and found a forum wide message appeared saying I had to read the thread about this app.
I did that then logged out and logged back in using tapatalk with no problems... All back to normal.
Clearly tapatalk can't handle a global message. Maybe the app can't log in with one in place also?

Bug not allowing people to log in with a space in their membrane has been fixed. You should get a notice from the App store of an update available to down load in a few days.

If you made the report without a good internet connection it will not upload it.
Open up the report and click save if you have a good connection and it should upload.
At times it has taken me 5 - 10 minutes for it to show up on Ausfish.
