Hi all,
I need some help on what effects a smaller DIA propeller will do on my boat.

I have a 14 1/4 x 13 prop on my honda 225 currently.
I emailed the manufacturer of the boat and they told me the standard recommended prop for that boat with that outboard is a 16 x 13.

What effects would you say I would get if I went to the original recommended size?

the boat is a 23.5 foot glass US import offshore fishing boat, ROBALO 235WA. I am looking at re-propping due to max RPM being 5400, poor hole etc

I was planning on putting a 4 blade prop on it but would first like to know what going back to standard will achieve so I can work out what I will need.

I have been recommended a 15 x 15 - 4 blade but that was before I know what the original prop should of been..

any help would be great
Dave

Get onto Ken at the propgods and ask the question. He is right up on the US hulls and best prop options

Ive found when trying smaller diameter on a large boat that if its too small you get excessive slippage. Larger diameter and you dont get enough slippage (Lose Thrust). So have to find that sweet spot mate.

these designed for big heavy american boats.

I had them imported for my heavy noosacat with twin 150s to lift transom up....difference is AMAZING.

hmmmm...not sure about that. This company is owned by Yamaha now in US so my REP imported them on delivery of my boat and they still count as genuine part not affecting warranty.
They supply other brands tho...
you can email contact them on sales@boatownersworld.com to check?

Dave, there is a lot of boat there for your 225. Garry (Spaniard King) is the go-to man for Honda's on here, and will have had a bit of experience propping combo's like yours.
Sometimes finding the right prop takes a bit of trial & error, however definitely your current prop is too big. Check engine height too.
Good luck
