Just make sure you dont try and leave the boat ramp at victor creek at low tide unless you have a tinny or know the channel well. Its very shallow and the channel markers are a joke. Horse it looks pretty good out there but my experience of trying to get in and out of the boat ramp has soured the whole area for me.

Have headed out to the Smith group quite a few times. Fishing has been great. There are also a couple of nice shoals out there that have fished better than the actual island. Consult the charts, but Geranium shoal is roughly East / North East from the smith group. Good spot to take an overnight trip as well the bay at Goldsmith Is is great to anchor at night. There is also good spearfishing in this bay, as well as good bluey fishing up against the rocks :-)

the smith group is the best part of the whitsundays and has to be the most picture perfect place to go
