Hi all ive got the injected tohatsu 70hp tldi model MD70A

was checking over it and found the fuel lines coming from the high pressure pump to the fule rail to have multiple cracks all the way around the outsides of the lines. also identified a leak where the line connects to the fuel filter inbetween the two lines.

seems to have had a small leak there for a while

my question is can i use fuel injection hoses from auto parts store for fuel injected cars or are these some sort of special hoses I shouldnt muck around with ?

Can't see why you couldn't just use the proper hose from an auto shop
Going by the look of that clamp they have been changed at some stage and it was probably not the right hose, Japanese fuel hose from the manufacturer tends to be pretty good stuff and I have always seemed to find it hard to replace aftermarket with the same quality
I would price up genuine and go from there

Are the parts in this diagram? http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Tohatsu/Outboard/2002%20And%20Earlier/MD70B/VAPOR%20SEPARATOR%20%26%20FUEL%20LINE/parts.html

If yes then they're a lot less than $150. If not browse boats.net or send me the part numbers you were quoted on and I will try to find them.

Item 28 covers the kit....two lines, filter and clips. Have a look in the diagram, item 28 is attached to the dashed line surrounding the entire kit.
I suspect you can use fuel injection lines off the shelf, but be sure you use crimp clamps, not screw clamps. The diameter of the tube is too small for a screw clamp to effectively seal.

I do have crimp clamps on either end of the line. I presume who ever serviced it used the screw type clamps. funnily thats where it was leaking from..

below is a proper clamp for fuel injector hoses
