Sad to read this as I have watched for years this boat being redone as a labor of love by the owner. Hope it goes to a good home maintained and run.

To anyone who is old enough to remember Italian lakes or riding the Sydney Circular Quay to Manly hydrofoils and the puff of soot off the opera house of you would understand why it would be great to see a similar style foil still running.

I'm disappointed I never had the opportunity to ride one of these as ferries on Sydney Harbour.

The current owner who has done the rebuilding started a s a deckie on the old manly foils and became captain on Manly Ferrys later.

My thrill as a kid was to get bragging rights to catch the last Hydrofoil before they were cancelled by 6m swell ( hell of a ride) and later one of my biggest brown undies moments was being disorientated mid channel in morning fog/ mist patch in a kayak hearing it bearing down and not knowing what direction to paddle. Was 100 m away in the end and I scrambled for safe haven of a channel marker.

If only the bloke would set up a charitable restoration trust or something as I would throw in for the chance to see it running , more to have a ride again. Of all the money NSW has pissed against the wall and some maritime history could be saved and kept in the harbour.

I only hope the maratime musuem could fund it even if only as a static. Was reading last night that 4 other foils were cut up or scrap in homebush bay years ago and here we are with all these stupid heritage house planning rules etc etc.

Yeah I'm still well pissed at myself for not riding the hovercraft over the Channel before it closed and also the concorde as I was being cheap at the time and thought it would last forever. Will however this year be rolling down the runway in a lancaster bomber and a couple of warbirds. Guess a bucket list never gets any shorter.
