Hello All,
http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2013/03/22/449122_gold-coast-news.html
I am not being smart about this, but how is it possible that a vessel of this type cannot get one of its engines started. Two motors, with independent fuel systems and starting systems, I hope.
At least one generator for charging starting batteries.
Surely it would be possible to rig something.
Also I see a lot of boats of this size carrying a powerful tender, could you not use it as a tug to get out of trouble.
If anyone has an insight into these sorts of boats I would like an informed comment.

Not the first time it has broken down either,

It all depends on how well it is maintained, if maintenance is poor then you cant expect anymore,

It was assisted at Tangalooma on a prior occasion, he didnt even have the hide to pay for his assistance from the Rescue organisation, he is a grub!!!!!

Plus you never know who he had on board, if no one knew the ins and outs of the boat then a small issue could turn into a big issue pretty quickly

Reckon he would be looking for a new skipper/engineer!

If it lost main power surely it would of had some auxiliary back-up power with a vessel of this size?

More then likely it was the nut behind the wheel

Lethal thats sh!thouse mate! The grub could have bought VMR a new vessel as thanks with the money he would have sitting in the crack of the leather lounges aboard that thing!

Reckon he would be looking for a new skipper/engineer!

It'll be privately registered and him or one of his rich mates was the skipper and he would expect things to happen when he pressed the button or turned the key and would have no idea how all the systems worked, that's for the peasants.

It has to be knucklehead owner/skipper problem.

No professional mariner would have put on a display of idiocy like that.... Needing a flare to find a giant boat at wavebreak. Idiot.

He probably could have used any number of backup options including anchoring. Hell.... He probably could've crabbed home on bow and stern thrusters. :)

I think this is typical of Mr Palmer......it could well have been a publicity stunt and was nothing wrong with the drive system.

Quite a small boat for Clive, someone tell him Greg Norman's is way bigger! His tender is probably bigger than Clive's boat !

Wow, isn't that jealousy at its best. IF he pays his VMR dues, then he is no different to anyone else.

They say history repeats its self ,bring on TITANIC 2, i think theres a qualified italian captain that is well suited for this job and hes available too.
