The Broadwater Parklands Boat Ramp located off Marine Parade Southport will close from 25 February 2013 due to redevelopment of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. A new public ramp facility is proposed as part of further upgrades to the parklands.

Alternate boat ramps are available in nearby locations, refer to attached public notice.

Given the court case about the bridge and its potential for increased flooding due to the proposed design, this closure is premature!

Cheers

Standard approach..... close the facility now and promise something shinier in the future. It's always in the future... Meanwhile the existing facility is gone.

I'm sure they'll replace it, just like they did with the one they took away from Kangaroo Point Cliffs before Expo in 1988.

Yeah a boat ramp by definition needs water front land.....

So there's less and less available (and its insanely expensive when it is) and yet there's more and more boats all the time.

What could possibly be wrong with this picture..... :)

Councils..... please don't close boat ramps... It's short sighted and difficult to undo.
