It is a try but the maps for my area being Gladstone and the Narrows are just lines on a bit of paper looks nothing like the place and are useless. It would be a waste of paper and ink to print them.

Have to agree. Just irrelevant generalizations, in my area and most others looked at. Whiting, bream, tailor and flathead on worms, yabbies, prawns, pilchards and flesh bait along the banks and headlands.
WOW.

I cannot see those maps being any use to anyone in reality. Certainly not the areas I am familiar with.

But hey, as long as they give someone a warm and fuzzy feeling in their pants who am I to complain.

Agree, I saw these a while back and found them utterly useless. Again for my area, like every area it seems "Bream, Whitting, Flathead. Worms, yabbies and Prawns".

Thanks for the link Phil, it just helped me find a ramp I've been looking for.

I think it's worth remembering that the maps and info on the link are designed for the ave punter going somewhere new, or perhaps even a complete novice. Certainly not designed for experienced locals or for navigation.
At the top of the page it does state
To decide where to fish, how to get there, what bait to take and what you are most likely to catch

I recon you're being a bit tough guys. Remember there's about 1 million Qlders go fishing, and most of them go only once or twice a year, I'm sure they would get some benefit from this resource.
This reminds me of something the editor of a fishing magazine told me once. One of his writers had wrote "tailor should be bleed quickly upon capture", soon after he started receiving letters and emails asking how do you do that.

Thanks Mike....... my thoughts exactly.

There many levels of experience, skill and knowledge and we all start somewhere.

To those that pooh poohed the efforts of Sunfish, please link me to YOUR maps, instructions, locations and information.... it had better be perfect !!!! ;) 8-) ;D

cheers LP

Actually Phil and Mike I stand by my statement. Those maps are essentially useless and anyone would be far better off simply going into a local tackle shop and asking for a little advice which would be a lot better than those maps.

There is no specific advice with those maps just general bland statements. Nor seasonal advice: Can I really expect to catch Tailor on Bribie in the middle of summer!? :-/

Sorry but I just see it as more Sunfish making paperwork and marking time while making bugger all difference on real issues and not rock the boat when needed.

There is a lot more useful info here on Ausfish by simply typing in your destination in most cases.

And in answer to Phil's "Put up or shut up" suggestion, which is fair enough, here are a few examples of some simple but very useful info, some offshore some beach based. They don't all have maps (don't really need them for offshore with GPS) but at least they are very useful information. Have a look at the Burrum River map for something that gives useful detail.

I know it was posted a while ago, but I went looking for the Burrum River map and it wouldn't load. Does anyone have a current burrum River map url?
