So after 16 years of being off the water, I finally have another boat.

Nothin special, but its all I can afford right now.

I hope to put some extras in like a Fishfinder, perhaps a bit of carpet, etc.
So I should hopefully tow it somewhere soon and try for that elusive feed of fish in the CQ region.

Looks like the boat will scrub up just fine. Bit of paint and carpet goes a long way.
All the best with it

It's about the fish you catch . Not what you catch the fish in .

Had a couple days out fishing in it.
So far;
4 Catfish
2 Sting rays
1 Eel
1 Octopus
1 Shark
1 Turtle

Haha, better than I was doing off the bank though.

Where were you fishing?

Whereabouts in the CQ region are you?? With all the fresh run off there is a Barra a plenty in the rivers.

I'm in Rocky. I have been fishing the Fitzroy River, mainly town reaches. And fished Coorooman Crk too.

Now you just need to catch a few prawns and some "crab sticks" and you'll have a fishermans basket. ;D

I have found the city reaches of Rocky are better fished with lures or plastics to avoid the huge amounts of vermin.
If I was to live bait it these days I would be using the livie like a hard body lure and cast and retrieve it with a stinger behind either a bridle or a lip hook.

I have only fished with lures lately. I found that forktail catfish really love suspending lures, and generally take on the pause.
The stingrays really like soft plastics, cast up current and slow roll back to the boat, they always hit on the drop.

The eel i got smashed a pink Chubby hard body cast up into the snags near Devils elbow.

Oh and Octopus like poly blades in transucent pink.

As for Barra, nah I think they are extinct in the Fitzroy. A myth.
