Does anyone know of any insurance company which covers mechanical breakdown of an outboard motor? I knew of an instance where a gearbox was fixed because of fishing line getting into the seals....but what about engine failure in general?
In a nutshell, if I don't have warranty, can i replace it with insurance cover?
Thanks guys.

I don't believe any insurance company cover this anymore as about 5 years ago they all had a major policy re-wording to exclude all mechanical failure that is not associated to a accident of some kind. as i know they were sick of the old jelly fish/plastic bag/sand ingress causing a engine failure claims.
good luck if you need to claim your problem unless its related to a accident.

Try club marine I think they do something along those lines.

some MAY, but with an extra price, but most do not, they will cover all sorts of accidental damage, but none that I know of cover breakdown/mechanical as such.
