Where is the cheapest place to buy whole Mullet within say 100km of the Gold Coast?

I Remember once seeing them at Pattons for $1.99 per kilo a while back.

2 weeks ago Naked Seafood at Viccie Pt had whole mullet at $2 a kilo... he may have more in, call him

IMO and experience, there is a difference in Mullet caught at sea and in rivers.

I will never buy river caught mullet. That is if you are seeking Mullet for bait for fishing.

Crabbing Mullet could be another story, as is eating Mullet.

The season usually starts about June.

Cheers guys...It is just purely for crab bait. I have always found the river mullet I have caught myself never works as well :S

I forgot to add, if you take a bucket with you he will fill it up with fish frames for $2 bucks, but its whatever he has there, you'll get a mix of reef frames, mullet, salmon etc whatever is there...

I get 10Kg (frozen)box from Morgans, I think its about 15$ a box from memory, havent bought any in a while

Due to sea mullet having a size and bag limit in qld - http://www.daff.qld.gov.au/28_14922.htm
How can you easily tell sea mullet apart from other mullet species? Looking at the daff site and other fish id sites it is still not really clear to me. What mullet species are found right up in the local creeks in the fresh?
