Moreton Bay Boat Harbour Concept Plan
Manly, Cabbage Tree Creek and Scarborough

Draft for consultation

This draft document, prepared by Dept of Transport and Main Roads, surfaced recently.
Ironically a similar plan was mentioned in the 22nd edition of Baycare News in December 2003. While it is acknowledged that these harbours need master plans it is not healthy to just work with anonymous "key stakeholders" at a closed workshop. One of the major concerns is the loss of what little public access we, as non-key stakeholders, have to these harbours. For example, for the public boat ramp on Sinbad Street, Cabbage Tree Creek it is planned to remove a large slab of the public car P park for "Retail, Hospitality and Tourism."
While, like most boat ramp car parks this area is underutilised most of the time, we must remember that boat ownership is increasing dramatically each year and that Moreton Bay has relatively few public boat ramps.

there you have it. don't feel too cushy up that way. moreton bay access is going to be a whole of bay access problem if qld transport is behind any moves to reduce boat trailer parking. what can you do to help solve current AND future ramp problems?
