It's raining cats and dogs, can't get out of the house. There is a bit of boredom happening and tonight is a $20 Million lotto draw.
So if you did snag some of the cash what would be your ideal Fishing Boat. I stress fishing boat not floating bar......
I like this little gem. I like it because it is still under the 2.5m width and in the trailerable range.

A G&S game boat from the US. They are designed for the record chasers to go super fast with in reverse. They have an upward sloping transom under the waterline to help them plane in reverse and shafts in tunnels to keep the shaft angles low for efficiency and so they don't drag the arse down. I've seen one in the flesh, "Desperado" at Cairns and there is one in NZ setting records galore, "The Hookin' Bull".

If I win lotto I am going to build my own boat to exactly suit my needs. Nothing on the market really suits what I have in mind.

Then I guess I will have to build an extension to house it out of the weather too.

Something akin to this with some serious deck modifications.

I would probably buy something like this:

And go fishing indefinetly ;D

Great idea for a rainy day - well done Ozy

Here's my choice http://www.mirage-mfg.com/html/sf_32_34.html

Single diesel efficiency, centre console fishability, shower, not too big, not too small and toilet and sleeping for 4.

Brilliant.

10-12m Ally wheelhouse with diesel inboard. Two thirds coverd deck with 500litres water and 1500litres diesel. Fridge shower toilet stove. To cruise around the swains for a month at a time. Is that boat ok, mister?

Surtees 6.7 Gamefisher with a 250 Merc Verado or twin Suzuki 130 for out wide. 5.0m Quintex hornet trophy with 115 not fussy on brand, just not an Evenrude haha!! Fitted with Lowrance HDS 9 touch with structure scan and Minn Kota ipilot for estuary...

That's about 150k for both... The rest of the money would go on a house on the canals with private pontoon and no work again... Ever!!

I'm going to get a ticket now!! Thanks Ozynort!!

Cool thread Ozy!
I would get a 8m plate boat with diesel i/o built by Col at Origin that could be towed with oversize signs etc (2.7m). 600l fuel. A small desal unit. Solar panels to run a little fridge for food. V berth in front and a transverse bunk under a raised driving position. It would also have a hatch in the roof with a driving position like they do on the Contenders. This would be to get more height whilst popping around the reef edges. The cabin would be walkaround, but only on the port side, just enough to get to and from the bow. It might look a little funny, but would give a practical walkway without taking too much width out of the cabin. Of course all the latest electronics, trim tabs etc. A removable gas barbq that had its own cupboard to stow securely away (without rattling)extensive rod storage to keep our 30 rods out of the way (maybe need a 9m boat!).
Padded comings in the cockpit, and careful design of the low bowrail at the bow (don't want it to get in the way whilst casting. Some sort of teak decking for good looks and grip. Yeah, that would do for a bit of long range adventure sportfishing .

Gees I'm glad all you blokes want big flash boats. I'll have an extensive range of craft to choose from for fishing duties all with no expenses to pay other then bringing a cartoon of happiness and a 40kg bag of spuds on board. The spuds are for the chips you have to have with all the fresh fish. It's all about a balanced diet with me.

Actually, since this is about 'fishing boats' I would like a Seatime 2800, probably the diesel inboard although twin fourstrokes also has it's appeal. It's aussie built and is a bit like a Walkaround
28 foot - 8.5 meter
3 meter beam

Horse .... those Nord Star Boats look bullet proof.

There's a lot of similarities between them and a lot of the all weather boats made in Alaska/Canada.

That Flybridge on the Nord Star 31 is a doozy. Reminds me of the French Beneteau Barracuda 9 which is now available in Australia.

Well ..... there's that and then there's the truth. You simply couldn't fit anything more in your shed!

Although, you could argue the point that if you won big at lotto you could build a bigger shed!!

Actually we can fit more into a shed. I fixed up the hay shed the last coupla weeks.
The Cook thinks 4 boats is enough so he who is hungry needs to obey she who cooks.

But your dead right. If we won Looto a gignormus shed would go up. Big W up here is about 7 hectares under roof. I reckon a bit bigger then that would suffice.

GBC is on the right money,

IF you had the cash a Nordhavn is the go. If you want a fishing boat then why don't you combine the best ocean going cruising boat in the world with a specially designed game fishing boat.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - there is only one !!!!

If the truth be known, Little Junior here, probably has more square meterage of fishing deck space than some of those bigger boats.
