I have the same model as this and havnt got it insured yet. But just asked the missus and she said a couple of photos showing that its not a wreck should do. She used to work for The Rock insurance brokers.

Thanks for the reply, it has to be a written report according to RACQ from someone who is accredited to carry out the inspection but they did not put me onto anyone who does it

Maybe a boat surveyor or mechanic?
I was told CGU and Nautilus were better and cheaper

Suncorp don't require a report. Well didn't when I took out insurance with them anyway.

My recent rebuild (1973 cruise craft w/ 2010 yamaha) I needed insurance for towing skiers etc. Went through the the normal ring around and got the safety certificate issue with most.
Then called suncorp no issue at all.

I had a sports boat (sailing) with them a few years ago. I had a major rig failure off airline beach in 2007. They replaced it without any questions. $15,000. Just sent photos of the damage to an assessor.

Had to get a condition report on the old V-Sea last year before club marine would reinsure. Karee marine at Rocklea did it and were pretty comprehensive. It was a club marine checklist but I'd ask your insurer then talk to Trevor at Karee.

See how you get on.

If its not a rude question, what value did they insure it for? I'm just about finished a resto on a 166 Raider (the bigger brother to yours) and trying to determine what price to insure for.

Cheers

Hey CT.

I insured it for 12k. 7k for outboard. (My main concern) 4k for hull and electrics. 1k for trailer.

Cost $500 a year. With skiing coverage.

Thanks to all for your info, the seller has agreed to obtain a condition report from club marine, the report has been done and two items received a poor mark, one was wheel bearings on trailer, seller has agreed to replace and the vinyl cover is worn which I already knew and is no big deal. Motor is in mint condition only done 40 hrs 50 hp Etec. Happy days ahead on the water here we come.
